AMEC plc is a focused supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world’s natural resources, nuclear, clean energy, water and environmental sectors. With annual revenues of over £2.5 billion, AMEC designs, delivers and maintains strategic and complex assets for its customers. The company employs some 23,000 people in more than 40 countries globally.
AMEC’s roots can be traced back over 150 years in the UK and in 2007 we celebrated our 100 year anniversary in Canada. From a diverse range of specialist engineering companies, we have evolved into a major engineering force around the world.
Although much of AMEC plc’s early history was rooted in the construction sector, since the late 1990′s, it has been moving away from construction and towards an international project management and engineering services business.
By the end of 2005, AMEC had become an extremely diverse organisation of 45,000 employees. The Board decided to focus on the core activities of oil and gas, power and process and environmental services. The non-core built environment businesses were sold during 2007 and a major cost reduction programme was completed.
Today, AMEC plc is a focused supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering, and project management services to the world’s energy, power and process industries, designing, delivering and maintaining strategic and complex assets for its customers.
AMEC is structured into two separate divisions: Natural Resources and Power & Process, and Earth and Environmental. Both divisions are then further structured into operations.
